Plaster Art at ARTMiE: We Tried the Hot Trend Ourselves

Plaster Art at ARTMiE: We Tried This Hot Trend for Ourselves

At ARTMiE, we decided to have a little artistic fun. And we'll tell you, it's addictive! Just get started and you'll see how quickly crafting with paste draws you in.

Imagine a studio, a great group of people, colors and brushes all around you, and a good mood.

So, let's take a look at what Plaster art is.

Plaster art is an art-making technique that uses texture paste to create 3D textures and reliefs. Modeling paste is applied to a surface using a brush, plastic spatula or scraper, or palette knife. Once the relief paste has been applied and dried, a layer of paint or varnish or resin can be applied to the surface to highlight the textures and patterns.

Plaster art is full of waves that you shape.

What can you create with this technique?

1. Create beautiful textures and depth: This technique mainly uses relief paste, which gives artwork a trendy, raised, three-dimensional look. Choose from a range of textures, from smooth to fine or grainier. You can also mix in different art materials, such as glass beads.

2. Create patterns: …using a range of tools: scrapers, spatulas, palette knives with different edges. Big waves, small waves, deep or shallow, whatever you like.

You can also create beautiful effects with your fingers. This opens up plenty of possibilities for making original and innovative pieces. And it’s wonderfully relaxing, too.

3. The possibilities never run out: you don’t have to stick to white or black pastes. Try adding black or metallic paint to parts of your artwork, mix some lovely pastel shades, or create bold color combinations such as yellow, green, and orange.

You can also paint the canvas, apply the paste, then use a scraper during the final touches to reveal some of the colored background.

Tip: mix wet paste with acrylic paint to create a new, interesting shade, or try a marble effect.

4. Mixed Media Art: Plaster art is the perfect partner for mixed media techniques. Try using acrylic paints, spray paints, metal leaf, glitter, glitter flakes, glass beads, or resin. Let your creativity run wild!

5. Fall in love with art: it’s love at first stroke of the palette knife. With plaster art, you can relax, have fun, and plan an interesting evening with your friends. It doesn’t take much space or time.

What we loved right away about this type of art was how quickly you can learn to work with paste. It’s also easy to redo an entire piece with a single stroke, even while you’re creating, without ruining the canvas. Pretty great, right?

6. Breathtaking style: with so many ways to apply relief paste and combine it with other materials, every piece is unique. This gives artists the chance to express their style and themselves. The finished artwork will make a stylish addition to your home.

Stars from the ARTMiE Studio

This workshop was a great opportunity to try ARTMiE brand products firsthand… or, rather, on our own canvases. So the essentials included easels, canvases, and palette knives from our own brand. And, of course, the star of the show was the ARTMiE 3D Modeling Relief Paste, which is easy to apply to various surfaces and works beautifully for Plaster Art.

What’s a workshop like?

We had a wonderfully diverse group at the workshop, from beginners to advanced artists, with and without formal art training. Some had previous experience with this art technique, while others were trying it for the very first time. We all had one common goal : to dig our fingers into relief paste and try Plaster Art.

workshop

At the start of the workshop, our skilled instructors told us more about relief paste. Then, of course, we had lots of questions. Finally, we got to creating, and before long everyone was focused on their own piece and relaxing.

Some wanted to keep their pieces minimalist, while others fully immersed themselves in the creative process, producing detailed artworks filled with different colors, patterns, textures, and decorations.

We worked very well with the ARTMiE relief paste. It blended perfectly with the canvas and was easy to spread and remove from the painting while we worked.

We liked that we could mix it with paint.

The whole process was full of laughter, excitement, and creativity. We showed that making art doesn’t have to be a serious affair. It can also be great fun and a way to get to know and support one another.

Inspiration, Collaboration, and the Joy of Creating

Wondering how much we enjoyed it? Here are our impressions of the workshop. To wrap up, read a few of our own thoughts:

"My impressions of the workshop are very positive… It’s always useful to try out products that we sell directly in our online store. As a customer service representative, it’s very important to me to be able to share my firsthand experience with a product with customers."

"For me, it was a chance to unwind and relax. It feels good to make something of your own, something beautiful and aesthetic… I definitely improved my palette knife technique. It definitely wasn’t my last painting. It inspired me to create more. I think kids would really enjoy this, too."

"I’d definitely like to take part in similar workshops again. I learned a lot today. I really enjoyed it."

"There was a great atmosphere from the start of the workshop, and I felt encouraged and inspired. Great collaboration and support for one another. I learned a lot of new things."

In any case, it was an artistic experience for everyone. We felt like part of one big creative team.

We hope our workshop inspired you to create something of your own. We look forward to seeing your work!
