Darwi leather paints are made for leather, synthetic fabrics, and plasticized fabrics. No ironing is needed, just air-dry for 2–3 days. Find out how to use them and why they're popular.
Darwi Leather Paints for Leather and Synthetic Materials

In brief: Darwi leather paints are made for fully synthetic, smooth, and plasticized fabrics, as well as natural and synthetic leather. They do not need to be heat-set. Just leave the painted item to air-dry for 48 – 72 hours. They come in 30 ml bottles and are highly pigmented, so a thin coat is usually enough.

Darwi Leather paints for leather and synthetic materials

Decorating and painting clothes or textiles indoors has become very easy with the arrival of fabric paints. With a little patience and creativity, you can breathe new life into old items, refresh pieces you’re tired of, or even cover damage or stains that have kept a T-shirt or jeans sitting in your closet for months.

It’s important to choose the right type of paint for the material you plan to work on to get successful, long-lasting results. Most paints on the market are made for use on lighter natural materials such as cotton or linen. Manufacturers recommend keeping the synthetic fiber content as low as possible, up to 20%. You also need to consider the fabric’s elasticity. Highly elastic fabrics are not suitable for thick, opaque fabric paints, since a thicker coat may crack when the fabric stretches. This means regular fabric paints are ideal for cotton blouses, sweatshirts, and jeans. But what if you want to decorate synthetic fabric, a leather handbag or shoes, an umbrella, or a fall jacket? That’s when you need to choose leather paints.

What Makes Darwi Leather Paints Special?

Darwi leather paints are made specifically for fabrics that are fully synthetic, smooth, or plasticized, as well as natural or synthetic leather. Their most important feature is that, while paints for natural materials must be heat-set by ironing the painted item to make the paint wash-resistant, Darwi leather paints only need to air-dry for 48 – 72 hours. They are often used on items that simply cannot be ironed, such as backpacks, windbreakers, and shoes.

With their 30 ml packaging, these paints are better suited to details and smaller motifs than to coloring entire garments. They are highly pigmented, so a small amount and one thin coat are usually enough to achieve the desired results.

How do you use leather paints?

They are very easy to use. As with any other kind of decorating and painting, it is important for the surface you are working on to be clean and dry so the paint adheres well and does not peel or wash off later. We recommend sketching out your motif beforehand to avoid mistakes, which are difficult to correct on this type of material, as these paints are almost impossible to wash out and mistakes are hard to fix.

Applying Leather paints to leather with a brush

Apply the paint with soft, flexible brushes (brushes with flexible synthetic fibers are ideal for these paints). You can also apply it with different sponges, for example, by dabbing the paint through a stencil. The paints can, of course, be mixed together to create new shades. Do not dilute them, as this reduces their adhesion and may affect their durability on the material.

Once you have finished painting and are happy with the result, leave the painted item to dry for 2 to 3 days. That is all these paints require. After this longer drying time, they are fixed to the surface and remain durable and wash-resistant at temperatures up to 30 degrees. Avoid scrubbing this kind of footwear. It is better to wipe it with a sponge. You can also later apply standard creams for protecting leather items to leather pieces.
